You will have days after rehab where you will struggle, but inner willpower can keep you strong. You simply have to find it first. The more inner willpower you have, the less likely you will be to succumb to a relapse. It can be difficult to find your own willpower when you need it. That is why it is important to have some sources of willpower before the need hits. Here are a few places that can help you find some of that willpower, just in case you ever find yourself in need.

Think of Your Past When You Need Inner Willpower

Finding Inner Willpower When Struggling After RehabLooking at what you went through while using, through sober eyes, can be a great source of inner willpower. Think about the pain of detox and withdrawals. Remember the misery of seeking another hit before the withdrawals hit. Those days where you couldn’t get another batch of drugs, and what went through your head. You know what you were willing to do, both good and bad, to get more drugs. Is that what you want your life to be again? That may be all of the reality check you need to stay strong.

Think About Those Who Never Gave Up

You likely had at least one person that never gave up on trying to convince you to get help. Think about that person. If they couldn’t give up on you, then you can use that person as inspiration to not give up on yourself. Be strong because you really don’t want to slide back. If you were to relapse, it would be a huge regret. Think about waking up that first morning and how good it felt not needing to get high. You wished that you would have gotten help sooner. You even wondered why you waited so long to go to rehab. Bring those memories out, and use them as a source of inspiration now.

You Can Feel Your Inner Willpower Through Your Support System

Turning to your support system can show you how much inner willpower you have to stay sober. When you have a rough day, turn to them. It is their job to help you in moments of weakness. This should be a combination of friends, family, and professionals. That way, no matter what you need or what time you need it, someone can be there. By simply calling for help, you can prove to yourself how much desire and willpower you have to remain sober.
